Top 5 Common Ways to Remove Blocked Drains

Top 5 Common Ways to Remove Blocked Drains

You know the helpless situation when the kitchen sink doesn’t drain or when the toilet floods with stinking water. Once the initial shock is over, you frantically search for the contact number of the plumber Adelaide service to dial. The frustration increases by leaps and bounds when you know that none of the service providers will be able to send somebody immediately.

Don’t lose the peace of mind just because of blocked drains in Adelaide. Here are five common ways of getting rid of them.

#1 Use boiling water

When you think about using easy ways of removing blocked drains, the use of hot water should be the first. Let the water boil well. Remove as much standing water from the sink as you can. Use a mug to bail out the water. Pour the entire kettle of water into the sink at once. Wait for some time. If the water doesn’t move, then wait till it cools. Repeat the process three-four times to clear the stoppage.

#2 Vinegar, salt, and baking soda

You should remove the standing water as much as you can.  Pour a cup full of baking soda in the drain followed by a cup of white vinegar or apple cider. It will bubble. Once it settles down, use the stopper and wait half an hour.  Now use the hot water method till the clog clears. There is one more combination that also works well. You have to mix one cup of baking soda and half a cup of salt first. Pour this mixture in the drain. Let it be there for a few hours. Use boiling water to remove clogging.

#3 use plunger

You should seal the second side if it is a double sink. Now make a tight seal around the plunge. For that, fill the sink with enough water to cover the bell of the plunger. Now plunge vigorously till the clogging gets cleared. Now flush it with warm water.

#4 Clean the P-Trap

Clean the P-trap. It requires a little bit of precaution and practice. You need to place a bucket underneath the drain. Unfasten the P-trap from the drainpipe and clear out whatever is stuck there. Replace and run water through it.

#5 Plumber’s snake

It is a handy tool that can clear clogs stuck further down the system. You have to remove the drainpipe and P-trap that runs below the kitchen sink. Insert the snake into the pipe until you feel the resistance.
